Quincy officially began crawling on Oct 24, 2009. We were at a baby shower for little catfish at Rani & Jed's house which had carpet. Carpet is really a key ingredient for crawling, especially when you are just learning. So as you can see we have added a purple Yoga mat to the lovely decor of our 19X13 foot living space. One of Quincy's favorite activities is knocking over his rainbow blocks. He also loves his rolling turtles. Thanks Charlie for telling us about them. I don't know what Quincy will think when our house is finished and there will be multiple rooms for crawling and exploring. At the rate he is going he may be walking before we are back in our house. The plan is to move into the old part of the house on Jan 2, 2010. Hopefully we will also have permits and will be able to finish our bedrooms and bathroom which is currently red tagged.

Happy Halloween
Still working on tooth number three...

Yummy rice cereal...
The Heady boys...

I love Pumpkins...

Super fish...

Quincy is seven months old!!!! Over the last month Quincy has taught himself to crawl. It is amazing to see him learning how to make his body move the way he wants. He is getting super fast, especially if ther is something that he shouldn't have near by. He can also get from a crawling position to a sitting up position. One night during dinner we looked down to see Quincy sitting on the floor. We didn't believe our eyes since he had never gotten himself into a sitting position alone before. He had his first major fall on mom's watch. We both cried a lot after he crawled off the bed onto the very very solid bamboo floors. A small bump on his head made me feel like a bad mom. Quincy has also learned to clap. YEAH!!!!! He claps all the time. Quincy is no longer the smallest Heady. Darwin Walter Frick Heady was born on Oct 20, 2009. Mom & baby are doing well. We got to visit on the eve of his birth. I can't believe QKai was ever that little. Quincy is over 18 pounds now, twice his birth weight. He has started eating food. So far rice cereal and chard have been smeared all over his face and hands and a little has made it to his belly. Although the first item that he ever digested was a mazine. He is also drinking from a cup, which he loves doing.. Quincy is starting to talk. The fart noises and growls are being replaced with DADALALABABA.

Doing Dishes 101
Quincy is very independent as long as there are a few toys to play with. This is how I keep Quincy occupied while I do the dishes or make dinner.

Thank You
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for all of their love and support over the last 6 months. I am still in the process of writing thank you notes and sending out birth announcements. But I though it would be fun to upload some photos of Quincy enjoying his presents.
Below is a picture of Q at the pool with his friends wearing a french long sleeve shirt from his Auntie Brynn. Quincy met these other babies, while they were all still in their mom's bellies.
Quincy in his very cool onsie from Connie. Pictured on a blanket hand knit by my friends at the marine labs.
Quincy sleeping with his snuggely bear from the Rankins. I love sleeping baby pictures.
Quincy in his cool peace pants, from Lori & Madison.
Quincy in his beautiful handmade sweater from Carrie...
Between all of the gifts and hand me downs, we have everything we need and more.
Thanks to everyone,
kristen, walter & quincy

Forward Motion
Quincy Kai has been crawling backwards for a few weeks now. On Oct 1, 2009, he managed to go forward. I wouldn't call it crawling but definitely a scoot in the right direction.

Two Teeth!!!!
Hello friends and family,
I can't believe two months have passed since I have updated this site. My lapse is mainly due to the fact that Quincy has been getting up every hour to two hours all night long for the last two months. A combination of being 4 months old and teething has lead to very restless nights. I am happy to report that two teeth have now surfaced and we are beginning to sleep again. We have had a few night were he has only gotten up once in a seven hour period. Teething has been rough on all of us. It is so hard to know your baby is in pain and to not be able to do very much to help. We have used homeopathic teething tablets, baby Tylenol on occasion, and frozen pacifiers. I even bought Q Kai an amber necklace. Apparently the essence of the amber helps make the mouth feel better.
So much has happened in the last two months. Quincy is now moving on his own. The first time I sat him on the bed in the boppy, got up to get a toy and turned back to have him lying in the middle of the bed was a shock. Now we have the bed lined with pillows so he doesn't flip off. He is also crawling backwards, which is very frustrating. He tries to go forward but ends up further from his favorite toy. He has started rocking back & forth in a crawling position and then lunging forward with arm out stretched. Quincy is getting very stable at sitting up. He loves to sit and play with his toys.
Quincy loves to laugh. A funny story with lots of gesturing can lead to uncontrollable laughter folled by a deep case of the hiccups. He is also getting tikkolish. He is so fun to make laugh.
He knows his name which is so exciting. He loves to grab just about everything and chew and slobber. He loves to hold his feet and chew on his toes. He is getting so big. He wears cloths sized 6 to 12 months now, even though he is just 5 1/2 months old. His hair is getting lighter and thicker. He has lost most of his baby curls except for a stylish mohawk.
Quincy is having so much fun at the pool. He loves to drink the pool water. On occasion he puts his face under. We love hanging out and splashing. Bathtime is also really fun. He can splash most of the water out of the baby tub in second flat.
My folks came out to visit for a couple of weeks which was really fun. We rented a house near the beach. It was perfect timing because that is when the Santa Cruz Mountains were on fire. Luckily only ash fell on our house. Our house is still in the process of being remodeled...we got caught and now we are hoping to get permits before it rains.
Hope all is well with everyone.

Giraffe's are YUMMY
Hello everyone,
We are having so much fun. Quincy has begun teething. Lots of chewing and lots of slobber. His favorite toy to chew on is Sophie the giraffe, made from natural rubber, a lovely gift from the Rankin family. Although he is content with just about anything including my thumb. He is learning to use his stomach muscles, which is causing a bit more spit up these days. He flips from his back to his side continuously. He also is getting better at sitting up leaning forward. He is starting to laugh. His first fit of uncontrollable laughter was to Walter making farting noises. Oh so much to look forward to living with two boys. He is very determined in his playing. If we hang objects from his play arch, he tugs on them until they are unattached. He loves to shack his rattle too. He wiggles so much that he works up a bit of a sweat. He is having fun experimenting with his voice. Gone are the days of cooing now he talks in a low scratchy voice. I think he is mimicking the monster in the closet who visits him daily. We have been going to the pool twice a week with other babies and moms. Below you can see Quincy & Savannah rocking out. There are more pictures on the picassa site. http://picasaweb.google.com/home?tab=mq
Hope everyone is having a great summer,

Happy Father's Day
hello everyone,
Quincy is now 11 weeks old. We spent father's day gardening and playing with Quincy, and having a family dinner in Felton. Ama Winkie knitted Walter & Quincy matching hats. Quincy also got a funky funky sweater and leg warmers. Belly time is getting exciting. Quincy can now officially roll from his belly to his back.
Quincy has begun taking regular naps. He sleeps from 9am til noon, 1 pm til 3pm, and then for a few more hours in the evening. He is also only waking up once in the middle of the night. I am so happy to be sleeping again. In general he likes to play for about an hour with me and then likes to habg out alone in his swing. Alredy very independent.
Quincy is also getting very vocal. He loves to talk in various coos and grunts. We spend hours conversing and smiling. Quincy also likes to stick his tongue out.
Hope everyone is doing well,
kristen, walter & quincy

sooo big....
dear friends & family,
Quincy is getting so big. At his 2 month appointment he weighed 12lbs 11 ounces. He is in the 90 % for length and 75% for weight. We were supposed to start his vaccination but I decided to wait another month. We have also realized that Quincy and my consumption of cow's milk do not mix, so no more ice cream for mom. I am back to my prebirth weight which is crazy. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I have lost a lot of my muscle mass.
Quincy is now 10 weeks old. We have been having so much fun over the last month. Too much fun to update this blog. So as you can see Quincy loves to smile. It is great to have a happy face to go along with his very sad face. He loves to spend time on his belly. On rare occasions he can roll or really fall to one side and end up on his back. He hasn't figured out how to repeat the action. He is also beginning to be able to control his hands. His aunt Brynn came for a visit two weeks ago and brought him a bright orange star balloon. At first it was a little scary but now it is his favorite toy. He holds the string in his hand and love to make the balloon dance above him. It is amazing to watch him controlling the balloons movement. He also loves to hold his hands in fists above his face. It looks like he is ready for a fight. I think he likes that he can hold his hands still instead of having them spasm around him. He also can open the curtain next to his changing table by himself.
Quincy & I have been going on lots of walks. We have gotten to see a bobcat on our way up the canyon. We have also been walking with moms & babies from our birth class once a week on west cliff. Walter & I have also been taking QK to the beach most mornings and trading off baby time with surf time. I have paddled out twice and caught 1 wave!!! I am so excited to be back in the water.
Here is the link to our picassa site if you would like to check out more pictures.

Thank You Ama Winkie
Hello everyone,
Walter & I are on our own. My mom has been here for the last month taking care of us. She has been doing dishes, laundry, cooking, cleaning and of coarse holding Quincy. She has been amazing and completely selfless. It was truly a gift to have her here. I am not sure if we could have survived last month with out her. Come back soon. We miss you already.
Thanks for everything,
Kristen, Walter & Quincy Kai
6 weeks old
Dear friends and family,
Mother's day this year was bittersweet. After battling leukemia for a year Walter's mom Claire passed away. Quincy & I had a chance to say goodbye on saturday. Claire was surrounded by love on her final day with her three children, loving husband and daughter in law, Fred. The past week has been filled with family time with the Heady's. Quincy is very lucky to be apart of such a loving family. He has really enjoyed being held by everyone. It is also fun for Walter & I to be able to eat hot food at the same time.
We went on our first big hike in the woods. Quincy was not trilled getting his diaper changed on his mom's lap under the redwood trees. I am sure he will get used to haphazard diaper changes. Quincy is getting stronger everday. It is so fun to watch him change.

Birth Story
I finally got enough sleep last night that I was able to write Quincy Kai's Birth story...
So for months I have been imagining how my labor may begin. I was hoping I would sleep for 8 hours and labor would begin at day break. The following events were not quite what I had imagined. At 2 pm on April 2, 2009 I had my 39 week checkup with Dr Klikoff. I had been feeling funky since Monday, making jokes about how I should be on bed rest as I was running errands around town. I was feeling very puffy. My ankles were gone and my toes were like little sausages. I had gained 4 lbs in a week after zero weight gain in the previous two weeks. My blood pressure was high 144/90. I was also another cm dilated. Dr Klikoff was worried about preclempsia, so she called Sutter birthing center and scheduled me for a cervadil induction for April 3, 2009 @ 5pm. What a shock!!!!!
Cervadil was definitely not my first choice for starting labor. From the parking lot we called Celi to try an acupuncture induction. I have been doing acupuncture throughout pregnancy for allergies and at 36 weeks had started treatments for ripening my uterus. Celi met us at her office and treated me from 4:30-6:00pm, while Walter played with her two boys. The treatment was amazing, just a few needles being stimulated continuously while Celi rubbed my belly and sang beautiful laboring songs. Truely magical. Walter and I then headed to Joscelyn’s, our doula, house for a visit. She recommended a few homeopathic remedies for lowering blood pressure and for positioning the baby ( Sulphur & Pulsatilla). I headed home and Walter headed to the store to buy an amazing amount of food for labor.
On returning home, I got into bed and called my family to let them know the plan. A few contractions were starting. Walter got home and made us a chicken spinach salad. We then got organized for the hospital. At 9:30 we were packed and ready. At this point our thoughts diverged on what should happen next, Walter being concerned about my and the baby’s health thought we should go to sleep. I on the other hand thought that we should do a belly cast. In the end I won the debate and Walter made an amazing cast of my belly from 10:30 till 12:30. My contractions continued to get stronger during this process. Being trapped in plaster of paris is not the most ideal way to go into labor. At 12:30, I hopped in the shower to try to rid my torso of petroleum jelly. I then tried to sleep from 12:30 till 2:00am, running to the bathroom ever 10 minutes in pain. At 2 am, Walter realized that this was it and cuddled up next to me for a few minutes before I jumped out of bed again. Walter got up and began to time my contractions and they were regular, every 4 minutes lasting a minute. Walt called Jocelyn @ 2:30 and Sutter @ 2:45 and we left the house at around 3:14am. I will never forget how cold it was walking to the car. My teeth chattered all the way to 5 mile.
We arrived at Sutter at the same time as Joscelyn and headed past the beautiful oak tree and up the steps to the triage room. Luckily my contractions didn’t skip a beat, coming every 2-4 min. I filled out all of the paper work and had a vag exam at 3:42am I was still 2 cm, but I had made some progress I was 75% effaced and the baby was at -1. In most cases they would have sent me home, I love insurance companies, but luckily I was scheduled for an induction anyway that evening so really I was supposed to be there anyway. Lorraine let me have the last room with a bath. The idea was to let me labor and see how things progressed after a few hours and then we would decide whether to go home or stay. I didn’t even get a bracelet.
Walter & I headed for the tub. Laboring in the tub was great. With each contraction, I made a low ohh sound, which I never thought I would do. It is interesting how each contraction was different, some super intense, some mellow, some in rapid succession. I really hated the double contractions, even though I knew they were causing me to dilate. I even managed to sleep between contractions. At some point Walter headed to bed, while Joscelyn helped me labor. I eventually headed to bed from 5:30 to 6:00 am wrapped in warm blankets to try to get some rest. I rested a bit before returning to the tub.
At 7:45, Julie took over as my nurse and another vag exam was in order. I remember preparing myself for no progress but luckily I was now 4-5 cm dilated, 90% effaced and the baby was now at -2. Wiggles needed to rotate, he was facing my right side not my back. So now with each contraction I was trying different positions in the tub, on my right side, on my left, on my hands and knees and out of the tub.
At 9:05 I was complaining of rectal pressure. Another vag exam found me 6cm dilated. Wiggles was still facing the wrong direction and my water bag was bulging in front of his head. I also labored on the toilet and leaning over the cloths hamper. I remember how good it felt to feel the water evaporating from my skin. Focusing on the other sensations of my body kept me sane. Walter & Joscelyn kept me hydrated. They were constantly offering me water and recharge. I ate a nectar bar at some point in the morning.
At 10:00, I returned to bed so that Dr Klikoff could do a vag exam. I was still 6 cm dilated so Dr Klikoff decided to break my water @ 10:10. I was a little shocked at this intervention but my labor had stalled and we needed his head against my cervix. The calming sensation of the warm water rushing out was soon replaced with the weight of Wiggles on my cervix. So now was a critical time to get Wiggles facing the right direction, not that I realized this, I was too preoccupied by how much more pain there was with each contraction with out my water balloon pillow protecting my cervix. Joscelyn kept me out of the tub rotating my hips and squatting to the right and left between contractions with one leg up and then the other, very painful but necessary. I also was taking Pulsatilla, a homeopathic remedy for proper baby positioning.
At 11:30 my contractions were 2-6 min apart, I was still 6 cm but Wiggles finally facing the right direction. At some point I could no longer make the ohh sound but Walter could and did for every contraction. I spent a lot of labor with my eyes closed. I couldn’t deal with any extra stimulation. Walter was especially amazing when I wasn’t in the tub, hugging and supporting me during contractions. He also helped me to move around the room.
At 12:15, I was now 6-7cm dilated; the baby was now at 0. Wiggles head was well applied to the cervix. Something interesting to note about hospital births: You have to keep dilating if you spend 6 hours at the same cm, then pitocin is given. I had till 3pm to get past 6cm. Luckily I didn’t know this at the time. Over the next two hours my labor was really intense as I dilated to 10 cm. I don’t remember much except that it hurt and they wouldn’t let me back in the tub. I was also obsessed with the fact that I wanted to poo but couldn’t. I eventually asked for an enema but it was too late. There are too many labor words that start with E for example epidural and episiotomy, neither of which would be a good thing to ask for. Walter escaped for a few minutes to eat lunch. From 1:30 to 2:00 I got to get back in the tub.
At 2:10, I was completely dilated except for an anterior cervical lip. This means a small part of the cervix was trapped between Wiggles head and my pubic bone. Julie thought she could push the lip over Wiggles head as I pushed. Yeah!!! I finally get to push and the nurse is going to help. What could be better? So out of the tub and onto the birthing stool, after 4 pushes Julie determined I needed to return to the tub and relax, so that the lip would go away.
This was the beginning of the worst part of my labor. I remember how happy I was to get to go back to the tub. I imagined I would relax and the lip would dissolve away and soon I would have Wiggles in my arms. But my body wanted to push and I wasn’t allowed to push. With each contraction, Walter oohhed and I tried to breath and relax but at the peak of the contraction screamed out in pain. This is the part where I cursed or screamed with each contraction. Between contractions I said that I wanted to die, go home or just forget about having a baby. With each contraction I tried to pretend they weren’t happening. I also had some kinder moments where I talked to Wiggles and tried to let him know this would all pass. Walter escaped once again to go to the bathroom.
At 4:07pm, Susan came on duty and did another vag exam. The lip was gone. YEAH!!! Back out of the tub to the birthing stool. I tried to pee but couldn’t. At 4:20 the lip is back. I was very sad and frustrated. Susan tried to push the lip over Wiggles head during the next few contractions but it didn’t work.
At some point Dr Klikoff arrives and by 5:10 pm, I was flat on my back. A catheter emptied my bladder. By 5:24 Dr Klikoff finally gets the lip over Wiggles head. I am exhausted and can’t seem to hold my legs and push the way everyone wants me too. Lying on my back is very painful. With each contraction, I try to hold my breath and push sucking in a little air between pushes but by the end of the contraction I scream out in pain instead of focusing my energy on the push. With each push a little poo comes out which is good. At least something is moving.
At 6:10 Wiggles and I are not doing well. Wiggles heart rate is slowing and then racing. I am put on oxygen. I am forced to drink a PEPSI. We try to have me on my side which causes sciatic pain. The other side isn’t much better. Walter can see Wiggles head with each push but then it disappears between contractions. At 6:33 pm, I move to the birthing stool. I am way better at pushing on the stool. I can use my whole upper body to help as I grab onto the stool and pull up. Walt thinking I look like an Olympian weight lifter. At this point Dr Klikoff realized that the heart rate of 156 is mine and not Wiggles. We need an internal monitor for Wiggles which takes forever to unwrap. It is screwed into Wiggles head, falls out and is screwed in again. At this point I think that Wiggles is dieing, I am on oxygen, pushing on a birth stool, there is an internal fetal monitor and the doctor keeps saying we need to get this baby out. So with each contraction, I push as hard as I can. I am really scared. Dr Klikoff and Walter sit at my feet with a flashlight. Susan is standing to the left and Joscylyn is to the right. I can feel Wiggles hair still inside me. With each push I ask if the baby is out. Finally I push the head out. It is a very strange feeling to have a baby half in and half out. I am in a panic that I won’t be able to tell when the next contraction is happening. I hear susan say here comes a weak contraction. With that I bare down and Wiggles is born and is handed to me. I look to see that Wiggles is a boy. I scoot up into bed.
Soon I am looking down at my baby’s beautiful face. Strange how familiar his face is to me. He is absolutely beautiful. I rub his head and back and arms and fingers. He appears to have all of his parts. Walter is crying, tears streaming down his face. We are both so happy to be alive with our beautiful baby boy.
While we just gaze at our baby, Dr Klikoff gives me two stiches. I have to push so that the placenta can be born, which feels good. After the cord stops pulsating, Walter cuts it. I am given a shot of pitocin and my uterus is massaged. Wiggles gets a shot of Vit K and has his APCAR test and his mouth squeegeed. So much goes on while Walter Wiggles and I are consumed with love.

Five weeks old!!!
Hello everyone,
We had Quincy's one month check up on Monday. He is growing and growing. His weight was 10lbs 15 oz and 23 inches long. His doctor said everything looks great. Quincy is really changing. He is spending more time looking at us. He smiles all the time. He is getting stronger and can really get a good grasp on hair and necklaces. He has been going on walks with his grandma Winkie Dru. Today Quincy and I took a bath in a real bath tub. Quincy has a motto "Scary but fun", which is definitly how he viewed the bath. There was a lot of water and well he just wasn't sure how he felt about it. As you can see from the picture he will probably never out grow his fetal name. This outfit was a gift from his cousin Josh. A giggle makes me wiggle.
This was a rough week for Kristen. We had two big days of doctor's appointments, new mom support groups and running errons and dinner at Paul, Fred, Emma & Jo's house. Which led to a very tired mom and a preety severe breast infection. I tried to fight it with vitamins, massage and hot compresses but alas a fever for a couple of days and a quarter of my breast red and solid has led to a round of antibiotics. I am feeling a bit better but still don't like to be vertical.
Hugs and smiles,

PHOTO SHOOT

hello everyone,
Today is Quincy's 3 week birthday!!!! Quincy has started to grab and hold on to hair and necklaces. He is also working on holding his head up all by himself. Sam & Winkie Dru have been visiting all week. Quincy has really enjoyed napping with his grandparents. I am not sure how I will survive when they leave. Luckily my mom is staying in Santa Cruz for another two weeks. On Wednesday Quincy, Walter and I had a photo shot with a local photographer. See the link for some of the amazing photos.

Happy Birthday MOM.....
Hello everyone,
Quincy Kai is now 2 weeks and 2 days old. Walter & I are sooo in love. Our days and nights are spent nursing and changing diapers. We are all very happy. Quin is a great sleeper. Averaging 2-3 hours at a time. This morning he slept for 4 and a half hours in a row from 5 am till 9:30. What a great kid. Yesterday was Kristen's 35th birthday. Thanks mom for giving birth to me. Birhtday has an entire new meaning to me now. To celebrate my birthday we spent the morning napping...very lovely. We then headed to the beach in the afternoon. Kai thought it was a bit bright, windy and cold. I am sure he will grow to love the beach. As you can see we love all of the variations of his name. Hope all is well.

Quincy Kai Is Home
QUINCY KAI HEADY was born on April 3, 2009 @ 7:02 pm after 17 hours of labor. His head resembled a young conehead child. He weighed 9lbs 2ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long. The diameter of the head and chest was 14 1/4 inches. Kristen is doing great. The full details of the birth will be uploaded to the web site soon. It was a natural child birth with only 2 small interventions...Dr Klikoff broke his water bag @ 10 am and Kristen was forced to drink an entire PEPSI @ 6:10 pm. There was meconium in the water and little Quincy likely inhaled some. This led to a small baby infection discovered at 4pm on April 4th. He was given antibiotics for 60 hours through an IV in his foot. The nurses needed to check the IV every hour which was tough for sleeping. On April 6, he became jandise and needed light treatment for the next 24 hours. Quincy thought the light table was worst thant the birth canal. Although the videos are classic of our glowing baby. We got to stay together as a family through all of this even though Kristen was officially discharged on sunday. Quincy let us stay in his room till tuesday. Quincy is now a week old. He has the sweetest disposition, sleeps all the time, even while pooing & nursing. He is absolutly beautiful. His baby pictures are identical to Walter with Kristen's coloring and hair. The family is enjoying time home together.

Baby Shower
hello everyone...
Having a baby in my belly has been the most magical experience of my life. I can't believe that I could be holding my baby in 10 short days. I am beginning to understand why towards the end of one's pregnancy, you start really looking forward to giving birth. I know that I will not ever get to sleep the way I used to sleep, but I can't wait to be able to roll over at night without a concerted effort and even an occasional moan. The baby has begun to drop which is nice for breathing and eating, but the cantilevered weight of the belly is intense. The area between my shoulder struggle to keep my back straight. I have also started having contractions. They occur mainly in the evening and during the night. I have a feeling the next full moon will be a long and beautiful night for us.
Wiggles is very active. Last week my entire family came out for a visit. Wiggles was excited to kick everyone and also wiggle his/her butt for everyone's viewing pleasure. So what was supposed to be a relaxing week of hanging out with the Kusic's turned into a packing marathon. Walter, Wiggle & I are now living in the baby bubble, a converted apartment in the garage while our house is being remodeled. We read in every parenting book that having a baby and remodeling a house is a great idea. So in a few months we will have doors and a great room with kitchen, dining, and living room. We are soo excited.
The picture above is from our baby shower. Katy's house was such a special place to have our community gather to give Wiggles some love, wishes and hopes for the future.

Registry Info
Hello friends and family,
I have gotten a few emails from folks asking what we need for the baby. Luckily we live in a great community with amazing friends and have gotten lots of hand-me downs. Please do not feel like you need to get us anything. Someone will be organizing food for us to make the transition to parenthood easier and we would really appreciate yummy food.
But if you really want to get us something here are some ideas. We would prefer used items to new. If you do get new things we would prefer organic. We would love children's books and wooden toys. We already have lots of cloths for either a boy or a girl.
If you live in Santa Cruz, I have set up registries at EcoGoods on Pacific Ave and Green Spaces on Soquel Ave. I also love plan toys that are found at the little toy store next to Kelly's Bakery on the Westside.
There are also two online registries:

Full Term !!!!!
Hello everyone,
I have hit the magic 37 week of pregnancy, which means Wiggles is ready to be born. If I went into labor this second, Wiggle would not be considered premature . My due date is still 3 weeks away on April 9th. So I now weigh 196 lbs!!! My ankles are starting to swell and walking is no longer fun. I have started swimming which is great. Being weightless for a bit of time is fun. Although getting out of the pool is always a shock. Wiggles has started to drop. My belly is stretching in new directions, which is making breathing a lot easier, but taking a toll on my upper back. My braxton hicks contractions are more regular and are getting more intense.
Wiggles is in constant motion. His favorite position is downward dog, stretching my belly to full capacity. I think Wiggles is going to be born with well developed leg muscles. Wiggles loves moving with the sounds of loud drumming, diesel engines and motorcycles. I find it incredible that Wiggles recognizes his dad's voice. When Walter is around, Wiggles always moves in his direction.

Changing Daily
Hello friends & family,
I can't believe a month has gone by. Hopefully when we have a little one I will update this blog on a regular basis. As you can see I have grown, I am up to 191 lbs !!!! That is a total of 29 pds so far. I am in week 34 of the pregnancy. Six more weeks to go. We had an ultrasound on Friday and Wiggles is above average in size. Our doctor guesses around 5 lbs which is great. Hopefully Wiggles and I wont get too big over the next few weeks. Wiggles is also head down!!!
Wiggles is active constantly. Hiccups, kicks and extended stretched keep me entertained for hours. It is amazing to watch my belly move in such crazy directions. I am doing well. I can definitely feel the weight of Wiggles. I get pretty tired after an hour walk. Sleep is not as comfortable as it use to be.
The first picture above was taken in 2007. I wonder if I will ever have a waist again. I thought it was fun to have a comparison picture. Here is the link to my Picasso pictures. There is a great series called belly growth. I love looking back at the first photos where I thought my belly was so huge.

Hope all is well. Check back soon. I will try to do updates once a week.

Kayak Adventure
Hello family & friends,
Wiggles & I have grown a lot in the last 3 weeks, as you can see. Can't believe that it is February already. I am now in week 30...only 10 weeks to go. Walter, Wiggles, and I spent the morning kayaking north of Davenport. It was a sunny calm day. The visibility was incredible. Looking down into the water, we could see bull kelp drifting with the waves. We also saw a grey whale and a harbor seal. It has been a very dry warm winter in California, which is sad for the fish but good for adventures.
Thank you to everyone that emailed over the last few weeks. We didn't find out if Wiggles is a boy or a girl. I would love to here your guess on the matter. We have an amazing obstetrician, who I think is really a midwife in disguise. We are planning to give birth at the birthing center in Santa Cruz, which is across the street from the hospital ( just in case). Our doula is also a midwife. I am taking a pregnancy pilates & a pregnancy yoga class. Walter & I are also taking a mindful child birth class. I have gained 20 pounds so far. I may reach 200 pounds, which will be crazy.

Hello family & friends,
I am in the 27th week of my pregnancy with WIGGLES. Better late than never to let you know I am pregnant and to give you updates on how everything is going. I love being pregnant. I have been very lucky every step of the way. Although crazy tired the first trimester, my only signs of being pregnant were a heightened sence of smell, an aversion to chard, kale and beets, and getting car sick on windy roads. I was able to surf for the first four months. My biggest growth was between weeks 18 and 20. I went from a liitle round to huge. Wiggles began to wiggle week 21 and hasn't stopped moving since. With Walter and I as parents we are expecting a head strong active aries to challenge us forever. My due date is April 9. Over the next 13 weeks, I will try to keep you up to date on the exciting life and times of Walter, Kristen & Wiggles Heady.
Much love,
Kristen
